Electrical Checks

Make sure you get the electrics inspected before purchasing a property. Once you have moved in it is a shock to find unsafe electrical DIY installations or even worse needing a full rewire.

Make sure your property has mains wired smoke alarms fitted upstairs and downstairs and that they are interconnected. The headlines in some papers have reported deaths due to batteries running out.

Over the years many domestic customers have had decorating and home improvements carried out then called to have electrical work under taken causing major problems installing the cables, always have your electrical work and plumbing done first.

The images to the right would indicate your electrical installation is in need of updating and may be unsafe.

If you use extensions and adapters in your home, you may be in need of additional sockets and could be creating a potential hazard.

There is a very real danger from overloading your supply, and in extreme cases these can overheat and lead to a fire.
